The
American Association of Orthodontists recommends
that every child first visit an orthodontist
by age seven or earlier if a problem is detected
by parents, the family dentist, or physician.
When you visit early, the orthodontist can determine
when the best time will be to start treatment.
Treatment is often easier if started early enough
since it can eliminate the need for removal of
permanent teeth or jaw surgery.

Recently, the
number of adult orthodontic patients has been
on the rise. For those who can benefit from orthodontics,
age is not a factor. Adults who have teeth and
healthy supporting structures are never too old.
Increasing numbers of adults are taking advantage
of the lifelong benefits of orthodontics. These
are people who have made the choice to spend the
rest of their lives with an attractive, healthy
smile and the confidence that it brings. The latest
technology offers many benefits to adult patients.
For example, we have clear braces that are hardly
noticeable. When they are taken care of they work
just as well as the metal braces. Orthodontic
care is a fun, positive experience for everyone!
If you would like to see what type of benefits
orthodontic care can provide adults with, please
call Dr. Verma’s office to set up a complimentary
consultation.

Comprehensive orthodontic treatment with braces
generally begins between the ages of 11 and 13,
when most of the permanent teeth are in place. Phase
II treatment also begins at these approximate ages
when early treatment has been indicated. We use
the most modern braces and wire to achieve excellent
results in the shortest time with the least discomfort.
|
For those patients who have clear indications
for early intervention, early treatment presents
the opportunity to:
-
Influence jaw growth in a positive manner.
-
Harmonize width of the dental arches.
-
Improve eruption patterns.
-
Lower risk of trauma to protruded upper incisors.
-
Correct harmful oral habits.
-
Simplify and/or shorten treatment time for later
corrective orthodontics.
-
Reduce likelihood of impacted permanent teeth.
-
Improve some speech problems.
-
Preserve or gain space for erupting permanent
teeth.
-
Improve aesthetics and self-esteem at an earlier
age.
|
Early orthodontic screening can lead to simpler,
more effective treatment for dental patients and
greater peace of mind. |
